As part of my resolution to live a healthier lifestyle, I’ve been trying to drink smoothies for breakfast as a way to start the day off on the right track. This smoothie is probably my favorite one so far! It’s loaded with ingredients that have important health benefits and taste amazing.
Green tea is the key ingredient to this smoothie. It is loaded with antioxidants and has been proven to benefit heart health, brain function, and even has an anti-aging effect on your skin. And as if that isn’t enough, green tea also helps you burn fat by boosting your metabolism early in the day. For this recipe, I brewed the green tea myself; it’s simple and helps save money. All you have to do is warm up some water on the stove, pour it into a pitcher, and add three to four tea bags, depending on the size of your pitcher. Let the tea steep, add natural sweeteners to taste, then remove the tea bags and let the tea chill in the fridge.
Other powerful ingredients in this smoothie are lime and blueberries. Limes are packed with vitamins and nutrients that improve heart health and skin care. The hint of lime in this smoothie adds a refreshing flavor. Blueberries are a superfood loaded with antioxidants to boost your overall health. They have been shown to lower blood pressure, ease sore muscles after workouts, and they may even help prevent cancer.

- 1/2 cup ice
- 1/2 banana
- 8 oz vanilla yogurt
- handful of blueberries
- the juice of 1/4 of a lime
- 1/3 cup green tea
- 2 tsp shredded coconut
